Do you know that using free email is a VERY BAD business idea?

Lots of people still do not realize how bad an idea it is to use free email services such as Hotmail or Yahoo!® Mail). If you've never thought of it, it's still time to reconsider, before it's too late. Here as six reasons why.

Six reasons why using free email services such as Yahoo or Hotmail is a bad idea.

1. It's more and more likely that online merchants will refuse your order. The reason? Too much fraud is associated with these free accounts; the vast majority, in fact. So some merchants simply refuse to accept orders that originate from them. This is our own case. We do not accept orders from free email accounts.

2. Your emails may never reach their recipients. Why? Because so much spam originates from free account providers. Some Internet Service Providers (ISPs) simply "blacklist" whole blocks of their emails – along with yours, potentially – and refuse to pass them along. There is therefore greater potential to see emails from such free services as Yahoo or Hotmail ignored by a number of companies out there.

3. You'll lose your account if you don't use it within a certain time. Sure, that's not a big deal if you use it only for casual, occasional contacts. But it's crucial if you've used it to register at Web sites, for example, or order services that require email notifications. If there are problems with your account and your address is expired, you're out of luck. Alll your emails may be lost.

4. It's next to impossible to get an email address that's easily useable, let alone memorable. There are just too many variations in circulation. If for instance your name is Handy Bus, we bet you will never be able to get your email to look like handy@yahoo.com or handyb@hotmail.com. The best you could hope for is some impersonal variation such as mailto:bhandy50030@yahoo.com. Do you really want to be a number on the Internet?

5. Want to use POP3 via Outlook, for example, or IMAP via Netscape Messenger? You're out of luck with free Yahoo Mail –  Free email services do not allow IMAP or POP3, so you cannot download your emails to your computer and read them there. Free email services want you to visit their sites, so your freedom is basically hijacked.

6. The adage that "there's no such thing as a free lunch" is true of these email accounts, too. Every free email you send could include advertising insertions, for instance. Do you really want to be advertising an email provider's promotions when you're applying for a job, or registering a complaint, or communicating with friends?

So, if you're relying on a free email account, it's time to reconsider. We recommend a robust, unique, personalized email account from Handy Business Systems that works with you and promotes YOUR domain name and your own identity.

Eight reasons why using a personalized email service is a good idea

1. It's personalized because your email address will be based on a domain name of your choice, which could be based on your own name or the name of your company. Suppose your name is Handy Bus and you register the domain name http://www.handybizsys.net/. Well, now you could have an email such as hmailto:handy@handybizsys.net. Plus, a personalized email means you could offer email addresses to your friends, family and employees.

2. Merchants will easily accept your orders because they will trust the uniqueness of your personalized email address. You can thus freely, securely, and elegantly shop online.

3. You can reach 100% of your correspondents because there is very little chance of seeing your domain name blacklisted by ISPs and other companies because of spam or other illegal activities.

4. You do not have to use your account frequently. It's there, available to you at all times, whether you log in daily, monthly or once a year. There is no risk of de-activation or suspension if you do not use it frequently.

5. You do not have to spend hours on a free email Web sites such as Yahoo, trying to find a version of your name that is still available. You will not be a number such as  bhandy50030@yahoo.com. You will be handyb@hotmail.com. It will be you from start to finish and you can boast about it if you want!

6. Your identity is protected. In a few years, it will become important for individuals to protect their identity by registering domain names that correspond to their names. Not doing so could result in someone else legally "stealing" your name by owning the corresponding domain name. What if you became famous and finally came to realize you need your name registered as a domain name? Well, soon it will be too late. Do it now before someone else takes your name legally!

7. You can use POP3 or IMAP-compatible software to read emails directly on your computer. With POP3 o IMAP for instance, you do not need to visit the server or Web site that hosts your domain name and emails. Simply enter a few information in Outlook Express, Netscape Messenger or Eudora, and wham! Your emails are downloaded to your computer for easier, faster and more comfortable management and reading (POP3), or your emails are kept on the server, but shown to you directly on your computer as if you were actually sitting on the server hosting your emails (IMAP).

8. You do not have to suffer through advertising notices and banners. You are free to do what you want with your account. It's yours. It's private. No one monitors what you are doing.

So, if you're relying on a free email account, it's time to reconsider. We recommend a robust, unique, personalized email account from the Handy Business Systems that works with you and promotes YOUR domain name and your own identity.
